In this photo report, we’re highlighting the latest updates from Universal Orlando, with a primary focus on the upcoming Halloween Horror Nights. This report also includes a selection of minor updates throughout Universal Orlando. We’ve excluded construction on Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit‘s replacement and ongoing renovations, as our focus remains largely on the Halloween event. We’ll be sure to cover additional developments in the future.
Red Coconut Club Transformation
The Red Coconut Club at Universal CityWalk is currently closed through August 29 for construction. This club is typically transformed into the Dead Coconut Club for Halloween Horror Nights, featuring horror-inspired decorations, drinks, and more.

Wand Display Removed from CityWalk’s Universal Studios Store
The wand display in the Wizarding World section of the Universal Studios Store at CityWalk has been removed from the center of the walkway shown in the image below. Initially, a large circular wand display occupied this space, but it was removed in late July and replaced with a smaller version, as covered in our prior update. It’s possible the display was removed to enhance the flow of traffic.

Facade Renovation Completed in the Port of Entry
The facade renovation at the Guest Services/First Aid location in the Port of Entry at Islands of Adventure is now complete. As a result, the construction walls and scrim have been removed.

New Passholder Button
A new button featuring The Burning Blade Tavern from Dark Universe is now available exclusively for Universal Orlando Annual Passholders. This is the third of five buttons commemorating the opening of Epic Universe. You can collect yours until the end of August (while supplies last) at the UOAP Lounge in Toon Lagoon at Islands of Adventure or at The Tonight Shop at Universal Studios Florida.

“The Origins of Horror” Scare Zone
Props have been placed near the entrance of Universal Studios Florida in preparation for Halloween Horror Nights. This area is expected to be “The Origins of Horror” scare zone. This scare zone extends from the main entrance of the Universal Studios Store into a portion of Minion Land. The area along Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, part of Minion Land, has not been utilized for a scare zone in recent years.

“Masquerade: Dance with Death” Scare Zone
The “Masquerade: Dance with Death” scare zone is anticipated to occupy the Hollywood area. Since our last update, several new props have been introduced, including themed entryways and additional stage elements, like pedestals and triggers for scareactors to use.

“The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane” Scare Zone
“The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane” scare zone will occupy the pathway along Central Park. This scare zone has seen the most additions. In the past week, a ton of new props and decorations have been added to it.
The entry columns by Cafe La Bamba have been adorned with themed gates, plants, and other decorative elements.

Pumpkins have been hung in the trees.

There’s a three-page story of “The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane.”

There’s a crate warning of live animals.

Let’s explore the other various props in this scare zone.

Yarn, cat scratchers, and cat toys have been added to the walk-through set located near Animal Actors On Location.

A house is being built with the trusses and platform in front of Animal Actors On Location.

Additional Halloween Horror Nights Updates
The chairs and tables in the shaded seating area in front of Animal Actors On Location have been cleared. This space is usually used for a bar during Halloween Horror Nights.

A haunted house facade near the tent closest to The Simpsons Ride appears to be close to completion. This may be the “Hatchet and Chains: Demon Bounty Hunters” haunted house.

Here’s an aerial perspective of the same facade, taken by Bioreconstruct.

Bioreconstruct also took an aerial photo of the tent located right next to that. The facade confirms that it will be used for the “Dolls: Let’s Play Dead” haunted house.

We didn’t notice any new features added to the former Fear Factor Live auditorium, which will be used for the “Nightmare Fuel: Circus of Decay” dance show. However, fencing now blocks off the courtyard in front of the auditorium.
