As expected, scaffolding and scrim remain in place on the Universal Studios Florida entrance arch on opening night of Halloween Horror Nights. However, Universal Orlando has now provided a clearer look at what the completed archway is expected to look like.
As of August 27, Universal had updated the scrim with a rendering of the finished archway. The image also includes the Halloween Horror Nights medallion, which cannot be installed on the actual arch while work remains underway.

The rendering on the scrim confirms that the work is much more extensive than many initially assumed and is not related to Halloween Horror Nights as some guests speculated. As expected, the arch is being repainted, replacing its yellowish-beige color with the same white color scheme recently introduced throughout the rest of the entrance plaza.
The globe logo is also being removed in favor of simple lettering, bringing the overall design of the archway more in line with the look of the arch at Universal Studios Hollywood.
For comparison, here’s what the Hollywood arch looks like.

And here’s a look at the Universal Studios Florida arch before work began. It featured a yellowish-beige color scheme, a globe logo resembling one of the park’s classic logos, and a contrasting color behind the logo.

Photos circulating online a few days ago showed a look behind the scrim, revealing that portions of the archway have been cut away as part of the ongoing work. We noticed cracks in the structure before work began, so it’s possible that crews are also addressing structural issues as part of the project.
Universal has not announced a timeline for completion. However, the inclusion of the Halloween Horror Nights medallion on the scrim could indicate that the work is expected to continue for an extended period, potentially lasting through a significant portion of the event or even through its conclusion on November 1.
