Southern California Guide
Visiting Southern California
Southern California has long been recognized for its role in the movie and television industry. Many of the world's most iconic entertainment companies, including Warner Bros., Walt Disney Pictures, and Paramount Pictures, were founded in the area. Southern California, however, is also popular for its vast collection of tourist attractions, such as the iconic Disneyland Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood. The region's natural wonders, picturesque landmarks, compelling history, and exciting attractions draw in visitors from around the world.
August is typically the hottest month of the year with an average temperature of 85°F (29°C). December and January are the coldest months with an average high of 68°F (20°C). Expect sunny days throughout most of the year.
Southern California is relatively car dependent; car rentals are recommended as a result. Though less convenient, bus, subway, and light rail transportation are available for a fee to select attractions throughout the region. Ridesharing apps, such as Uber and Lyft, are also an option.
