Central Florida Guide
Visiting Central Florida
Tourism is one of the main drivers of Florida's economy. A great majority of visitors travel to the state to enjoy the many world-class attractions in the Central Florida region. Central Florida is known as the theme park capital of the world, home to exciting theme park destinations, including Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort. The region, however, also boasts numerous other tourist attractions beyond the theme parks. Central Florida's countless attractions make it a popular destination for families.
During the summer months, temperatures can reach over 90°F (32°C). July is on average the hottest month of the year. January is typically the coldest month with an average high of about 72°F (22°C). Expect sunny days most of the year with occasional rain. Thunderstorms and hurricanes are likely during the summer and fall seasons.
Central Florida is heavily car dependent; car rentals are recommended depending on where you're staying and which destination(s) you plan to visit. Many hotels in the Orlando area offer complimentary transportation to select destinations, including Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando. Though less convenient, Lynx bus transportation is available to many attractions throughout Orange and Osceola county. The I-Ride Trolley provides an affordable way to access popular attractions on International Drive. Ridesharing apps, such as Uber and Lyft, are also an option.
