The Walt Disney World Railroad at Magic Kingdom will temporarily close this fall. According to the operating calendar on the Walt Disney World website, the railroad will be closed from September 28 through October 29, with service listed to resume October 30.
The closure follows more than a year of limited service. Since July 2025, the Walt Disney World Railroad has operated only as a shuttle between the Main Street, U.S.A., and Fantasyland stations instead of completing its full circuit around Magic Kingdom. The shortened route was put in place because construction at the former Rivers of America site crosses the railroad’s route.
Disney has not explained the reason for the railroad’s upcoming closure or specified what work will take place during the approximately four-and-a-half-week shutdown. There is also no indication that the railroad’s regular full-circuit service will return when it reopens due to ongoing construction on the upcoming Piston Peak National Park and Villains Land.
