Netflix is bringing the world of Manifest back to life with a new series that will explore a different mystery within the franchise.
The streaming service has ordered Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery, a sci-fi drama that will feature an entirely new group of characters while remaining connected to the universe established by the original series. The project comes from Manifest creator Jeff Rake, who is returning alongside Margaret Easley and Laura Putney. The three will serve as co-creators, executive producers and co-showrunners.
The new story begins when a mysterious plane crash-lands in Denver. Its passengers are alive, but they have no idea who they are, where they came from or what brought them there.
Their arrival soon becomes part of a much larger mystery. A young social worker and a novice Homeland Security agent join forces with the passengers as they attempt to uncover the truth and prevent a catastrophe that could threaten humanity.
The announcement comes on August 28, a date with special significance for Manifest fans. Netflix revealed the news at 8:28 a.m., a nod to the fictional Flight 828 at the center of the original series.
Manifest premiered on NBC in 2018 and followed the passengers and crew of Montego Air Flight 828 after they mysteriously returned following a five and a half-year disappearance. NBC canceled the series after its third season in 2021, but Netflix revived it for a fourth and final season, which concluded the story in 2023.
Across its four seasons, Manifest has accumulated more than 130 million views since early 2023, according to Netflix.
Warner Bros. Television, which produced the original series, is also returning as the studio behind Arrivals.
