Warner Bros. Discovery has increased the cost of its ad-free subscription plans for its streaming platform, Max. Effective immediately, the price adjustment affects both monthly and annual rates for new subscribers. The company stated that existing subscribers will receive a notification 30 days before their plan renewal, with price increases beginning from their next billing cycle on or after July 4, 2024. Current yearly subscribers will not experience an increase until their renewal date.
The cost of the monthly Ad-Free plan in the U.S. will now be $16.99, marking a $1 increase, while the annual Ad-Free plan has been raised by $20 to $169.99. The Ad-Free plan includes streaming on 2 devices at once, Full HD 1080p, and 30 downloads to watch on the go. Additionally, the monthly Ultimate Ad-Free plan has also increased by $1, bringing the new total to $20.99. The annual Ultimate Ad-Free rate is now $209.99, a $10 rise. The Ultimate Ad-Free plan includes streaming on 4 devices at once; 4K UHD, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, and HDR 10 on select titles; as well as 100 downloads to watch on the go. Rates for Max’s ad-supported tier remain unchanged at this time.
In a letter addressing the price increases, Warner Bros. Discovery, a major player in the entertainment industry, stated: “Max is the one to watch for iconic series, hit movies, fresh originals, family favorites, breaking news, and live sports, and this increase allows us to continue to invest in delivering more culture-defining programming and improving our customer experience for all users.”
