Universal Orlando‘s Halloween Horror Nights is just weeks away, and a new scare zone has taken form at Universal Studios Florida. Meanwhile, new equipment arrived at the site for the upcoming replacement of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. This photo report highlights these updates and more.
Construction on Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit’s Replacement
New utility pipes have arrived at the site next to the Hard Rock Cafe in Universal CityWalk. This construction is related to the replacement attraction for Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, which will extend the footprint of Universal Studios Florida to incorporate this lot that was previously part of CityWalk.

Recently, construction fencing has surrounded the walkway adjacent to the Hard Rock Cafe, becoming part of the construction site. However, the covered walkway below the restaurant’s upper terrace is still accessible, allowing guests to reach the Berlin Wall located at the back.

Here’s a new update on the site next to the CityWalk waterway near the Universal globe. The replacement for Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit extends further into CityWalk, requiring modifications to the walkway in this area.

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit remains in operation until August 17, 2025, after which it will be permanently closed. Although Universal has yet to officially reveal its replacement, there are rumors circulating about a new roller coaster themed around Fast & Furious.
Universal Studios Florida Bridge Renovation
Here’s an updated view of the ongoing renovation of the bridge over the Universal Studios Florida lagoon, situated near the London waterfront and The Simpsons Ride.

New Merchandise
New merchandise has arrived at select stores throughout Universal Orlando, featuring items like a Hello Kitty x Chucky popcorn bucket and additional Halloween Horror Nights products. Due to the extensive variety, we’ve dedicated a separate post to highlight the new merchandise while keeping the focus on other updates in this photo report. “The Origins of Horror” Scare Zone
Trusses have been installed at the front of what is anticipated to become “The Origins of Horror” scare zone, located near the entrance of Universal Studios Florida.

“Mutations: Toxic Twenties” Scare Zone
Universal is now preparing the New York area for Halloween Horror Nights. Props, set pieces, and decorations, which began to appear here early this week, confirm that this will be home to the “Mutations: Toxic Twenties” scare zone.

Here’s an up-close view of the newspapers, magazines, and snacks featured at the newsstand displayed above.

“Masquerade: Dance with Death” Scare Zone
More Halloween Horror Nights theming has popped up in the Hollywood area of the park, which is likely to be the “Masquerade: Dance with Death” scare zone. Since our previous photo report, candles, glasses, furniture, gargoyles, and other items have been set up on the stages. Tarps have been placed over some props to conceal their mature content. These tarps are only taken down during Halloween Horror Nights, as they hide the mature elements during regular park hours.

“The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane” Scare Zone
The pathway along Central Park is being used for “The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane” scare zone.
A “Do Not Enter” sign has been installed at a gate leading into the scare zone near Cafe La Bamba.

Foliage has been incorporated into the walk-through set located near Animal Actors On Location.

The house located at the end of the road, in front of Animal Actors On Location, has received a roof, porch, cauldron, and additional features.

Food & Beverage Booths Arrive
Food and potentially beverage booths have been set up for Halloween Horror Nights, with several themed to Terrifier and Fallout. We spotted these booths at the Music Plaza, throughout the New York area, and near the London waterfront next to the bridge that crosses the Universal Studios Florida lagoon.

Additional Halloween Horror Nights Updates
A truss has been placed at the Universal Studios Florida entrance gate, directly beside where guests scan their park tickets.

Fog machines have arrived throughout the park, including in Illumination’s Minion Land, San Francisco, and Hollywood.

Universal confirmed that this year’s Halloween Horror Nights Tribute Store will take over the Sahara Traders store (Revenge of the Mummy‘s exit gift shop) and Palace Arcade (located next door). We noticed that a shelf in Sahara Traders has been rotated to create a direct pathway into the arcade, improving traffic flow.

Monitors have been installed within the mount cases in Battery Park, and the Halloween Horror Nights logo is now on the bezel. This space regularly serves as a bar during Halloween Horror Nights and includes photo opportunities with scareactors.

A new Halloween Horror Nights photo op backdrop has been set up beside Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show.
