Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit permanently closed at Universal Studios Florida about a month ago, on August 18, 2025, and significant portions of the ride have already been dismantled as Universal gears up for a new roller coaster. In this photo update, we’re covering the ongoing construction for the yet-to-be-announced attraction that will replace Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, along with the demolition of the ride itself.

Demolition and Site Work Near CityWalk

The section of track that once spanned the area between the entrance of Universal Studios Florida and the Hard Rock Cafe in CityWalk has nearly been completely removed, including the brake run. As of the afternoon of September 16, only a few support pillars and the stairs leading to the brake run remain. Alongside Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit’s demolition, construction is underway for its replacement. As noted in our past updates, this work started several months before the ride’s closure. Drainage systems have been installed on-site, and additional site work is currently ongoing.

Here’s the current state of the entry area of the ride station. The ride’s sign was removed in late August.

Remaining Track Pieces

The track segments at both the front and back of the park have largely been dismantled, including the brake runs that once towered over the park. This leaves just the central section intact, which includes the vertical lift and non-inverted loop. Here’s a view of the last remaining track pieces, including their endpoints, along with an updated look at the park’s skyline that the ride once dominated.
