Just over a week after Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit permanently closed at Universal Studios Florida on August 18, 2025, much of the ride has already been dismantled as Universal prepares for a new roller coaster. Let’s take a look at the site to see the ongoing construction for the upcoming attraction that will replace Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, as well as the demolition of the ride itself.

Site Work and Demolition Near CityWalk

Situated between the entrance of Universal Studios Florida and the Hard Rock Cafe in CityWalk, construction is currently underway for the attraction that will replace Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. This work commenced several months prior to the ride’s closure. Drainage systems have been installed at the site, and further site work is in progress. At the same time, crews are dismantling Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit.

In the image below, the section of track that was cut at the entrance of the station is now covered with a tarp. This was not present in our update from yesterday, August 27.

Track pieces are piled up near the ride’s station.

Here’s a look at the remainder of this segment of the ride. Most of the brake runs remain intact.

Several support pillars have been tagged with either red or green markings.

Treble Clef Section Removed

The treble clef segment of the ride, located in the back of the New York area, has been taken down. In our update from August 26, the section passing through the firehouse facade was the final part of the treble clef still standing, but it has now been dismantled as well.

Here’s a view of several of the remaining support pillars for the treble clef.

Tallest Sections Still in Place

The tallest parts of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit remain intact and continue to stand out in the Universal Orlando skyline, including the vertical lift, non-inverted loop, and a significant portion of the brake runs.

Universal Orlando has not yet announced what will replace Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. However, a Notice of Commencement for work by Intamin, the same manufacturer behind the Jurassic World VelociCoaster and Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, suggests that a new Intamin roller coaster will be installed as its replacement.
