Following the massive success of 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which grossed $1.36 billion worldwide, Nintendo and Illumination have unveiled the first full trailer for their highly anticipated animated sequel, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
The new trailer introduces audiences to an expanded world inspired by the Super Mario Galaxy games, featuring cosmic settings and new characters. Alongside the trailer, the studio announced two major casting additions: Brie Larson will voice Rosalina and Benny Safdie will portray Bowser Jr. Both characters make their debut appearances in the trailer.
The trailer also offers a look at Bowser Jr. and teases his central role in the story. With Bowser still miniaturized and imprisoned after the events of the first film, the sequel’s plot begins as Bowser Jr. sets out on a mission to rescue his father—setting the stage for another showdown with Mario and his friends.
Illumination also released a new poster for the upcoming film.

Returning voice stars include Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Jack Black reprising his role as Bowser.
Directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic are back at the helm, with Matthew Fogel once again penning the screenplay.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
