Disney may be looking at a new way to manage theme park parking. The company is exploring autonomous robots that could eventually assist with directing vehicles, potentially changing how guests navigate parking lots at its theme parks.
The concept was among the projects presented during the 2026 Disney Accelerator Demo Day at Walt Disney Studios. Five participating companies—Promise, OpenArt, FieldAI, Physical Intelligence, and Simile—showcased technology they had been developing alongside Disney during the four-month program.
As part of the program, FieldAI partnered with Disney Experiences Technology and Walt Disney Imagineering R&D to explore how autonomous robots could help direct vehicles to parking spaces.

The presentation featured two possible designs inspired by Pixar’s Cars. One was an orange vehicle with yellow safety markings, while the other had a blue exterior and the words “Parking Aide” displayed on its hood. Both concepts featured illuminated light wands for directing traffic and rooftop displays that could communicate instructions to drivers through text and graphics.

In the demonstration, the orange robot displayed directional arrows to guide drivers, warned them to slow down as they approached a parking space, and gave a thumbs-up once a vehicle had pulled far enough forward. The design also incorporated character-like expressions, including a wink.
FieldAI is developing technology for the robots to navigate “complex terrain and unpredictable weather,” conditions familiar to Florida, particularly during the summer months when frequent thunderstorms and heavy rain can affect theme park operations.
Disney is also considering how the technology could extend beyond parking operations. Gary Daniels, Senior Vice President of Products & Experiences at Disney Experiences Technology, discussed the possibility of using similar robotics to bring characters from WALL-E into the physical world. Imagineering R&D and FieldAI are exploring how the robots’ navigation and environmental awareness capabilities could contribute to future robotic character experiences.
While the technology is still being explored, Disney has not announced plans to deploy the robotic assistants at its theme parks.
