Universal Orlando Resort has announced plans for a new indoor roller coaster at Epic Universe, which will join the lineup of attractions in the park’s Dark Universe world.
The upcoming attraction will be located next to Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, Dark Universe’s signature ride. Universal says the coaster will feature an all-new storyline inspired by the studio’s iconic Universal Monsters franchise, bringing guests into another experience centered around the legendary creatures.
Speculation about a potential Dark Universe expansion has circulated since before Epic Universe even opened in 2025. Early rumors pointed to a Creature from the Black Lagoon boat ride, while more recent speculation suggested the addition could be an indoor coaster themed to Bride of Frankenstein.
The announcement comes just over a year after Epic Universe opened and marks the first guest expansion Universal has officially confirmed for the park. The addition will also bring more ride capacity to Epic Universe, which has experienced high wait times since opening.
Construction is already underway, but Universal has not provided an opening date, saying only that the attraction is planned to open “in the years ahead.” Specific details about the ride’s storyline and which Universal Monsters characters will appear have also yet to be revealed.
