On our journey to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World today, September 30, 2025, to capture updates throughout the park, we boarded the resort monorail for a brief stop at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. We wanted to check on the progress of the ongoing lobby renovation, which marks the culmination of the hotel’s multi-year refurbishment. This extensive project has included updates to guest rooms and refreshed dining experiences.
Lobby Renovation
Significant areas of the lobby are currently closed off due to the ongoing renovation, which aims to present a new look featuring a mix of botanical accents and inviting colors designed to create an airy, garden-like atmosphere, according to Disney.

Elevator Closed
The elevator in the lobby atrium was closed and blocked off while crews worked on it.
Garden View Lounge Makeover
Renovations are underway at the Garden View Lounge, where a comprehensive transformation is taking place. Enhancements consist of a fresh coat of paint, updated moldings, and changes to the flooring.
New Lobby Bar
One of the most significant changes to the lobby is the addition of a brand new bar. This bar occupies the space previously held by the birdcage and is crafted to resemble its design. The birdcage-inspired shape of the bar has already taken form, but there is still considerable work to be done before it is finished.
Updates to the Grand Staircase
In mid-September 2025, Disney unveiled the renovated grand staircase, which now features a brand-new mural depicting the Grand Floridian itself, replacing the former faux window design that overlooked the lagoon. Additionally, the staircase boasts new carpeting adorned with a floral pattern.
