Cinderella Castle Moat Refill Now Complete

The Cinderella Castle moat was fully emptied back in February as part of the castle repaint project, which saw the structure’s pink and gold color scheme replaced with a new palette of grays and creams. While the main exterior repainting was largely completed by April, additional finishing work continued at the lower levels of the castle that required direct access to the drained moat area.

With that work now wrapped up, crews began refilling the moat on Monday, gradually restoring water levels throughout the week. By Tuesday, the waterline had already reached a noticeable height, as shown in our coverage, and by Thursday, the moat was completely filled once again. With the restoration complete, the fill hoses have been shut off, and the temporary dams that had separated the water-filled section from the drained work zone have now been removed.

Tomorrowland Towers Demolished

Looking at the Tomorrowland side of the moat, we noticed scrim now in place at two sections of the waterway near the bridge into Tomorrowland. These areas previously had two space-themed towers that were originally installed during the land’s 1994 makeover.

Here is where one of the towers was removed on the right side of the bridge.

For comparison, here’s a photo from February showing the structure still in place near the top left of the frame.

Frontierland Boardwalk Partially Closed to Guests

A stretch of the boardwalk running from Liberty Square into Frontierland closed earlier this week due to construction for the Pixar Cars-themed Piston Peak National Park area. The entrance closest to the former Liberty Square Riverboat Landing has been fully blocked off with construction walls.

Additionally, construction walls have shifted in the area, revealing a freshly paved section that has replaced a small water feature often referred to as the “Little Mississippi,” as work continues throughout the surrounding area.

The boardwalk then reopens after the fort lookout, providing access to the remaining stretch that continues toward the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure area.
