For the first time in almost decades, Disneyland Resort will introduce a new addition to its hotel lineup―a Four Diamond hotel. The new property, which is scheduled to open in 2021, “will transform the west end of the Downtown Disney District and anchor a new gateway to the Disneyland Resort,” says Erin Glover, Editorial Content Director for the Disneyland Resort.
The new Four Diamond hotel will feature approximately 700 rooms with a “sophisticated design” and will add “extensive landscaping and water elements,” creating a resort oasis. Disneyland states that the new property will also feature an upper-level dining location and lounge that will give guests a view of Disneyland park’s fireworks display. Additionally, the hotel’s lower level will include shops and restaurants “opening onto an expansive landscaped plaza.” According to Disneyland’s announcement, the Four Diamond hotel will connect all other existing on-site hotels through gardens and landscaped walkways, completely transforming the west side of the property. Moreover, the Four Diamond hotel will consist of a dedicated platform for the Disneyland monorail inside the hotel, providing guests with direct transportation into Disneyland park.
Disneyland expects to begin construction on the new hotel in the summer of 2018.
UPDATE: This project has since been canceled.
