The Walt Disney Company is eliminating between 100 and 200 jobs within its Disney Experiences division, according to the Los Angeles Times.

WDWMagic reports that Walt Disney Imagineering is among the departments impacted, accounting for a significant share of the reported job cuts. Imagineering is responsible for designing and developing attractions and guest experiences across Disney’s theme parks, resort hotels, and cruise ships.

Employees affected by the cuts were informed by the end of Wednesday, October 28.

The layoffs come as Disney is in the midst of massive expansion projects across its theme park business. At Walt Disney World, major developments include a new Pixar Cars-themed area, Villains Land, and Tropical Americas, among other planned additions. Disneyland Resort also has several projects in development, including a Coco ride and a reimagining of Tomorrowland.

It’s unclear whether the workforce reductions will affect any of these projects. Construction is already underway on the Cars-themed area, while Tropical Americas is scheduled to open next year. However, WDWMagic reports that some of the affected teams are working on projects for Shanghai Disney Resort and Disney’s previously announced theme park in Abu Dhabi.

Disney Experiences remains one of the company’s biggest financial drivers, generating $36.2 billion in revenue and more than 56% of its total operating income in fiscal 2025.

While other parts of the company have faced workforce reductions in recent months, the Experiences division has largely avoided those cuts. A source familiar with the latest layoffs told the Los Angeles Times that they stem from a routine assessment of the division’s spending, investments, and project schedules.

The job cuts come as new Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro works to streamline operations and help the company adapt more quickly to changes across the entertainment industry. The Los Angeles Times also noted that Disney had previously reported challenges with international visitation at its U.S. theme parks, although executives said the situation had since eased. Whether attendance trends or other business considerations contributed to the latest layoffs has not been confirmed.
