In a newly released video from Universal Orlando, Karen Irwin, President & COO of Universal Orlando, has confirmed that significant developments are underway across all of it parks.

“There are already so many things in the works now,” said Irwin. We have a slate of new attractions that were already in development for every one of our parks. We’re already planning for the next thing at Epic.”

While Universal has yet to disclose specific details about the attractions in development, speculation is rife about potential replacements for existing experiences. Two notable areas of interest include The Lost Continent at Islands of Adventure and Fast & Furious – Supercharged at Universal Studios Florida.

Poseidon’s Fury at Islands of Adventure

The Lost Continent, which currently features no active attractions, has been significantly impacted since the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade more than a decade ago. The area has gradually lost its appeal, especially following the permanent closure of The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad stunt show in September 2018 and the more recent closing of Poseidon’s Fury, a walkthrough show, in May 2023.

Fast & Furious – Supercharged at Universal Studios Florida

In addition, Fast & Furious – Supercharged has garnered substantial criticism from guests since its opening in 2018. Following news of its permanent closure at Universal Studios Hollywood, a replacement for this attraction may also be in the pipeline for Universal Studios Florida.

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Florida

Though Universal has not revealed its intentions for those mentioned experiences, they did announce that the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster at Universal Studios Florida “will close in early September 2025 to make way for a new experience.” Details about its replacement have yet to be released. Universal Pictures’ “Wicked”

Moreover, Mark Woodbury, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Universal Destinations & Experiences, has hinted at secret plans for future attractions themed to Universal Pictures’ Wicked. Woodbury told the New York Times, “When I saw it, my first reaction was, ‘This is a theme park waiting to happen.’”
