Halloween Horror Nights is the nation’s premier Halloween event that draws thousands of horror fans. The event has received the “Best Halloween Event” award from Amusement Today 7 years running. Here are some tips you can use to survive the night at Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights.

People will be “dying” to get in
Halloween Horror Nights is known for being the best Halloween event. While you can purchase your tickets to the event at the gates, we highly recommend purchasing them in advance. This will guarantee you a ticket and it will be quicker to enter the event.

Be one of the first victims
If you’re going to Universal Studios Florida as a daytime guest on a Halloween Horror Nights night and you have a ticket for the event on that night, stay in the park and wait at one of the designated “Stay and Scream” locations. Guests with a daytime ticket and a Halloween Horror Nights ticket are allowed to stay in the park at designated locations as security empties out the park from regular guests. Doing this will allow you to be one of the first to experience the open haunted houses, which means shorter wait times.

If you do not have a daytime ticket, head to the park early… really early. The lines to get into the parking lot and guest drop off will be long. If you get there early, you’ll save your time waiting in line and you will be one of the first to enter the park. The event begins at 6:30 PM on all nights but that doesn’t mean you should arrive at 6:30 PM. We recommend arriving at the gates by 5:30 PM on busy nights.

Satisfy your stomach before entering… monsters enjoy victims with a full appetite
Eat before arriving at the event. Doing this will allow you to spend more time enjoying the event rather than wasting valuable time eating a meal.

Monsters care about their safety
Prior to entering the complex, all bags will be checked before entering Universal CityWalk (as usual) and you will be forced to pass another security measure at the entrance to Universal Orlando’s main theme park. You will be asked to walk through a metal detector so be sure to put any metal objects in the basket you are provided with. Costumes, masks, selfie sticks, and weapons will not be allowed in the park.

Frightened victims should not enter
Halloween Horror Nights is indeed a frightening event. If you are likely to injure someone when getting frightened, this event is not meant for you. If you do not enjoy being scared, this event is not meant for you. If you do not enjoy horror movies, this event may not be for you. If you prefer a traditional Halloween experience, this event may not be for you. Halloween Horror Nights is an event meant to scare you. The “scareactors” usually look for the most frightened individuals to get a good scare out of them.

The monsters are eager to meet their victims
Lines to enter the haunted houses can receive extremely long lines. Purchasing Halloween Horror Nights Express is highly recommended, especially if you plan on visiting for only one night. Halloween Horror Nights Express allows you to skip the regular lines at all haunted houses and participating rides and attractions.
