The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is getting a reboot, according to producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
“We’re gonna reboot Pirates, so that is easier to put together because you don’t have to wait for certain actors,” Bruckheimer told ComicBook.com in an interview published Monday.
Details regarding the plot and cast of the sixth installment have not been released; however, it’s unlikely that Johnny Depp will return to portray his iconic character, Jack Sparrow.
The Pirates of the Caribbean film series, inspired by the Disney theme park rides bearing the same name, initially launched in 2003 and has since expanded to encompass five movies.
