During our visit to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World today, September 25, 2025, we took the opportunity to gather updates on the demolition of the Rivers of America, which permanently closed on July 7, 2025. This closure paves the way for a new area themed around Pixar‘s Cars, as well as a land inspired by the Disney Villains. Although we did not observe any significant advancements in the demolition process, we did come across a new update that will restrict further reporting on this development from within the park.

Scrims Installed Along Boardwalk

In our photo update from September 2, 2025, we reported that crews started to install scaffolding along the boardwalk in Frontierland to obstruct the last remaining views of the Rivers of America. Now, scrims have finally been added to some of the scaffolding to block these views.

As of September 25, 2025, scrims have been placed only on the scaffolding along the boardwalk closest to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, specifically extending from just beyond the Big Al’s store kiosk to the construction walls that were installed in mid-July 2025 in front of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

These recently added barriers are different from the others since they are scrims rather than walls. Moreover, they do not completely reach the boardwalk; the scrim is positioned on the riverbed rather than on the boardwalk itself, leaving a notable gap that gives a partial view of the riverbed below.

Additional Scrim to be Added

Many views of the river from the boardwalk are still clear, but scaffolding extends the entire length in preparation for additional scrims that will fully block views of the river. In some of the following images, you can also see where the newly added scrim starts.
