Avatar: The Last Airbender is once again stepping into the cultural forefront, not as a result of the live-action adaptation by Netflix but due to the forthcoming release of a new animated motion picture. Paramount announced Thursday at CinemaCon that the film will be named Aang: The Last Airbender. Scheduled for release in 2026, this film extends the legacy of a narrative universe that has garnered critical acclaim and a dedicated following across the globe.

Paramount has yet to reveal specifics about the movie’s plot; however, it is known that the film will feature Aang in his adult years.

At the directorial helm of this project stands Lauren Montgomery, who worked as a storybook artist on the third season of Nickelodeon‘s Avatar: The Last Airbender and the entirety of The Legend of Korra. Eric Nam is taking on the role of Aang and Dave Bautista has been cast to voice an original villain. Dionne Quan, Jessica Batten, and Roman Zaragoza have also been cast for the film.

Aang: The Last Airbender is set hit theaters on January 20, 2026. Two additional films based on the intellectual property were previously confirmed.

UPDATE (April 18, 2024): Paramount Pictures has delayed the release of Aang: The Last Airbender. This article has been corrected to reflect the film’s new release date of January 20, 2026 (previously October 10, 2025).
