Apple has rebranded its streaming service Apple TV+, which launched in November 2019, to Apple TV, adopting the same name as its existing streaming media player device and app.
The company briefly announced the change on Monday, including the statement at the bottom of its latest press release about the upcoming F1 The Movie, debuting on December 12, 2025. The statement noted, “Apple TV+ is now simply Apple TV, with a vibrant new identity.”
At the time this article was published, there were no noticeable updates on Apple’s website, press portal, or other branding materials, all of which still feature the Apple TV+ name and logo.
With this rebrand, three separate Apple products now share the same name:
- Apple TV (device): The company’s streaming media player hardware.
- Apple TV (app): The software platform for accessing programs on Apple TV+, which has now been rebranded as Apple TV, along with additional content such as rentals, purchases, and other streaming services.
- Apple TV (service): The rebranded streaming subscription service, formerly Apple TV+.
The overlap could create confusion among users, as the same term now refers to distinct parts of Apple’s entertainment ecosystem. Apple has not yet indicated whether further updates or clarifications will accompany the name change.
