Universal Parks & Resorts is bringing a new concept to Frisco, Texas aimed at families with young children that will include a theme park and hotel.
The new park will feature themed lands and immersive rides and experiences that celebrate Universal’s iconic brand of entertainment, humor, and innovation, according to Universal officials. Additionally, it will be about one-quarter of the size of Universal Orlando’s parks so that its scale is appropriate for the park’s intended audience.
Mark Woodbury, chairman and CEO of Universal Parks & Resorts, said that in addition to the park, they also plan to construct a 300-room resort hotel.
According to Woodbury, Universal’s worldwide attractions that are designed to appeal to young families sparked the idea to bring such experiences together and create a destination designed specifically for families with young children.
“We are excited about the opportunity to partner with the city of Frisco and Mayor Cheney as we work to bring this innovative, new concept to life designed specifically for a younger generation of Universal fans,” said Page Thompson, president of new ventures for Universal Parks & Resorts.
Universal’s new Frisco park will sit on 97 acres of land near the Dallas North Tollway and Panther Creek Parkway. The city of Frisco’s growing population is one factor in its selection for the new Universal destination.
“We think North Texas is the perfect place to launch this unique park for families given its growing popularity within this part of the country,” said Thompson.
An opening date for the new park and details about its attractions are not yet available.
