Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will permanently close this fall, according to Disney.

The Star Wars-themed hotel opened in March 2022 and was designed to give guests the opportunity to experience the Star Wars franchise like never before. Unlike a traditional hotel, guests embark on a two night adventure in a manner similar to cruising. On board, guests get to live out their own Star Wars adventure, taking part in a real-life role-playing game, joining characters on a mission, lightsaber training, and more.

“Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is one of our most creative projects ever and has been praised by our guests and recognized for setting a new bar for innovation and immersive entertainment. This premium, boutique experience gave us the opportunity to try new things on a smaller scale of 100 rooms, and as we prepare for its final voyage, we will take what we’ve learned to create future experiences that can reach more of our guests and fans,” a spokesperson for Walt Disney World said in a statement.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser was an ambitious plan for Walt Disney World; however, with a starting price of about $4,800 for two guests and roughly $6,000 for four guests, the hotel rarely reached satisfactory occupancy levels. As a result, Disney was canceling low occupancy cruises and began offering discounts to Disney Vacation Club members, Cast Members, and more.

New reservation bookings will be paused until May 26th. The final voyage will be September 28th. Guests with reservations after that date will be contacted by Disney in the coming days to either reschedule or cancel their plans.

  1. Why don’t you just lower the prices to a normal rate that people can afford instead of trying to get every single dime out of their pockets for that they can enjoy a nice and peaceful vacation spot. I mean why charge $4000 for a room when you aren’t going anywhere. or anyplace you are in a hotel. your not out in space you never left the groud. If it is close to the park then lower the price keep the hotel and make it where people want to stay there not regret staying there.

There are not enough rooms to make it worth Disney’s time to open as a normal resort hotel

    • Did you stop for a moment and try to wrap your head around *why* the price was so high? Did you think it was just a regular hotel room with a buffet breakfast? Wrong. You were paying for the base price of the hotel room. You were paying for the food. You were paying for the tickets to the park. You were paying for the many, many actors who had to live in the hotel alongside the guests for the full two-day duration. You were paying for the training. You were paying for the boutique nature of the experience. That’s not cheap. Do you honestly think that if the price were lower that the experience could have been the same?
