Universal Studios has long been a household name in themed entertainment, and they’re taking it to the next level with the upcoming Universal Epic Universe theme park. Opening on May 22, 2025, Epic Universe is poised to become a fantastical realm of adventure and excitement where guests can immerse themselves in some of the most beloved stories and iconic characters of all time. From a groundbreaking celestial hub to a Gothic realm of monsters and the familiar but ever-enchanted world of Harry Potter, this new expansion promises to be a monumental addition to Universal Orlando. Let’s dive in and discover the top three reasons to get thrilled about Universal Epic Universe.
Celestial Park: The Heart of Epic Universe
At the center of this expansive new park lies Celestial Park, an all-original themed land that will act as both the hub of the park and the gateway to other realms. Unlike anything Universal Studios has done before, Celestial Park is setting a new standard for immersive environments, with a breathtaking design that includes a sprawling waterfall, a serene central lake, and a majestic water fountain. The lush greenery will transport visitors to another world, offering a naturalistic respite that encapsulates the magic of exploration and wonder.
Dark Universe: Unleashing the Icons of Horror
For those who revel in the thrills of the night and the legends that lurk within, Dark Universe is your calling. This land pays homage to the original titans of terror, the Universal Monsters. These creatures, like Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, and the Wolf Man, helped catapult Universal Studios to legendary status in Hollywood, and now they’re getting their due recognition within the theme parks. Venturing into Dark Universe means entering a domain steeped in myths and legends, where Gothic architecture meets the thrill of encountering the iconic monsters that have left an indelible mark on the film industry. Dark Universe is not just a themed land—it’s a cultural tribute to characters that have shaped an entire genre.
How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk: Fantasy Brought to Life
How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk is far beyond being a family themed world. While this world is certainly designed to be family-centric, conceptual renderings and details about the land depict an elaborate land brimming with allure that all ages can enjoy. Inspired by the How to Train Your Dragon films, this themed world, complete with lush landscapes and rolling hills, will feature an array of attractions and experiences for guests, including a live-action spectacle where dragons take wing in an extraordinary display of fantasy brought to life, a watery boat battle, a play area, a family-friendly roller coaster, and more. The roller coaster, named Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, will send you swooping and soaring above and around Isle of Berk and will eclipse any existing family-friendly roller coaster at Universal in terms of thrills and enchantment. Get ready for an experience overflowing with wonder, set against the backdrop of a fantastical Viking landscape.
While we’re as eager as anyone to see the wonders of Super Nintendo World, its presence in other Universal theme parks—Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Japan—has led us to spotlight the other amazing features that will make Universal Epic Universe a truly remarkable endeavor. The same goes for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic; although it’s equally impressive, our focus remains on new stories and intellectual properties.
The anticipation for Epic Universe’s opening this year is building, and we can hardly wait!
