According to a report, Universal Orlando filed documents with the city revealing new hotel development on the former Wet ‘n Wild property.
The documents filed contained few details but outlined the resort’s plan to add 4,000 rooms and have a portion of a road vacated; it also displayed an image with three parking structures. The below image illustrates the property in the document.
Wet ‘n Wild officially closed on December 31, 2016. Rumors suggested the property would be used for hotel development, as Universal Orlando’s parent company, Comcast, promised additional rooms. Universal’s Aventura Hotel, which was announced in November 2016, and Cabana Bay Beach Resort’s expansion will help to meet Comcast’s plans for Universal Orlando.
As more information is gathered about this development, we will post updates to our blog.
