Walt Disney World has quietly altered how it is presenting the upcoming Tropical Americas land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on its official website.
The change appears on the resort’s “Event Calendar” page under the “Coming to the Parks” section. Disney has refreshed the Tropical Americas listing with the official names of the project’s three major attractions, which were recently revealed: Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, and El Carrusel de los Animalitos.
More notably, the updated listing no longer mentions the previously announced 2027 opening year.
Disney previously described the development this way:
Get ready to journey to an 11-acre, immersive land in 2027. This Village of Hope will feature an exciting Encanto attraction, an action-packed Indiana Jones attraction, a woodcarver-themed carousel and more.
The current description reads:
Prepare for your journey to an 11-acre land. This village of hope will feature new attractions like the joyful Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto and action-packed Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent—plus a handcrafted El Carrusel de los Animalitos featuring wooden animal figures inspired by Disney and Pixar films.
The updated wording provides a clearer look at what guests can expect from each attraction, particularly El Carrusel de los Animalitos and its collection of wooden animal figures inspired by Disney and Pixar films. However, unlike the previous description, it no longer gives guests a target year for when they can experience the new land.
At this point, that does not necessarily indicate that Disney has delayed the project.
Disney has not announced a delay or stated that its opening has changed. The 2027 timeframe remains in at least some of the company’s previously published material, including a Disney Parks Blog article from April 2026 that continues to identify 2027 as the expected opening year.
So why remove the year from the website?
One possibility is that Disney simply updated the page following the announcement at D23 of the attractions’ official names and removed the opening year as part of that process. Another is that the resort is becoming more cautious about publicly committing to a specific timeframe while construction continues.
There is some reason to keep an eye on the project’s schedule. WDWMAGIC has reported that sources familiar with Tropical Americas have internally described the 2027 timeline as aggressive.
There has also been speculation about whether Disney could ultimately adjust the opening strategy, including the possibility of a phased opening, although the company has not announced such a plan.
For now, 2027 remains the official opening timeframe, but the resort’s decision to remove the year from its coming soon page leaves some questions about whether that target remains firm.
Until Disney says otherwise, there is no confirmation of a delay. Still, removing a previously stated opening year from a page that is actively being updated is a development worth watching as work on Tropical Americas moves forward.
