Disney has revealed a collection of new details about three attractions planned for the upcoming Tropical Americas land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, offering a closer look at their stories, themes, and experiences.
The announcements provide new information about the highly anticipated Indiana Jones adventure, the family-friendly Encanto attraction, and a new animal-themed carousel featuring characters from Disney and Pixar films.
New Details Announced for Indiana Jones Ride
Disney has officially revealed the name of its upcoming Indiana Jones attraction: Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent.
The adventure begins as guests meet Indy while he explores a mysterious temple near a once water-filled underground cave. According to local legend within the attraction’s story, the passage leads to the Maya Underworld and is guarded by a massive serpentine creature known as the Tsukán.
Guests will ultimately be pulled through a portal into the Underworld, where they will encounter a series of dangers, including enormous bats, giant scorpions, fire, and snakes.
The Tsukán will appear throughout the attraction before riders face a final encounter with the massive creature.
Disney says the attraction is being developed with input from archaeologists, anthropologists, and Maya experts as Imagineers work to incorporate authentic storytelling.
Disney also shared that Harrison Ford himself served as the model for the new Indiana Jones animatronic, marking the first time his likeness will appear as the face of a Disney attraction anywhere in the world.
Details Revealed for Upcoming Encanto Attraction
The upcoming Encanto attraction now has a name, Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto. The ride will take guests into the world of the Madrigal family, with the story centered around Antonio’s special gift of communicating with animals.
The experience takes place during Antonio’s gift day, bringing guests into Casita as the family celebrates the occasion. Disney says the attraction will expand beyond what audiences saw in the film, introducing new areas of the Madrigal home.
Guests will board vehicles inspired by furniture brought to life by Casita and travel through the house before eventually reaching Antonio’s room. There, the environment transforms into a lush rainforest filled with animals.
More than 50 different animals will be represented throughout the attraction, including a capybara, toucan, and donkey. Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment team is working with Imagineering to ensure the animals and their representations accurately reflect species found in Colombia.
The attraction will be accessible to guests of all ages, with no height requirement.
El Carrusel de los Animalitos Announced
Disney has revealed the official name of another attraction coming to Tropical Americas: El Carrusel de los Animalitos.
The animal-themed carousel will feature 22 hand-carved figures inspired by beloved Disney and Pixar characters. The ride is designed as an Animal Kingdom take on the classic carousel, incorporating the park’s longstanding focus on animals and conservation.
