Walt Disney World has officially announced the upcoming closure dates for the Grand Avenue area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which includes the Muppet*Vision 3D attraction. This decision comes as part of a redevelopment plan to create an all-new Monsters, Inc.-themed land.
The phased closure will begin in May 2025, with guests experiencing their last meal at Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano on May 10. Following this, Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo will close their doors, with June 7 marking the final day for guests to enjoy both locations.
The upcoming Monsters, Inc. land will immerse guests in the world of Monsters, Inc., taking place after the events of the original film. Guests will be invited to experience the factory itself. The main attraction in the land will be a suspended roller coaster—a first for a Disney park—recreating the door vault scene. The Monsters, Inc. land will also feature dining, shopping, and a new theater show.
While Muppet*Vision 3D bids farewell, fans of the Muppets can embark on a new adventure at Hollywood Studios on the first Disney ride ever to feature the Muppets. The Muppets are set to take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, where they will be “teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!” This means that the ride will shift its theme away from Aerosmith and instead feature the Muppets; however, Disney has not yet disclosed the closure date for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.
