The “bays” just don’t stop! Universal Orlando has Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Cabana Bay Beach Resort, and now Universal’s Volcano Bay water park. Universal’s Volcano Bay water park will join Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure to become Universal Orlando’s third park. Volcano Bay is scheduled to open in 2017 and will “completely redefine the water park experience…,” writes Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative.

The water park’s icon will be a massive volcano, which is expected to sit in the center of the park and be at least 200 feet tall. It will be set in a highly themed and completely immersive environment inspired by picture-perfect tropical islands.

Based on the concept art Universal Orlando released, there will be a variety of different groundbreaking waterslides, a wave pool, and a lazy river flowing into the volcano. The centerpiece attraction begins at the top of the volcano and ends at the bottom by going behind the volcano’s waterfall, which will provide guests with a one-of-a-kind experience.

The new water park will be located just south of Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort, with work already underway. This new experience shows how Universal Orlando is continuously changing throughout the years and providing new groundbreaking attractions with innovative technology.

More details concerning Universal’s Volcano Bay water park will be announced in the future.
