Universal Orlando Resort has unveiled new details about the highly anticipated Super Nintendo World, set to open at its Epic Universe theme park in 2025.
Guests will step through a portal that mimics the franchise’s iconic green pipe, leading them directly into Super Nintendo World. Once inside, guests can explore the world’s two distinct areas: Super Mario Land and Donkey Kong Country.
Super Mario Land
This area will bring to life the whimsical Mushroom Kingdom from the Super Mario franchise, allowing guests to interact with key elements of the games, such as punching ? blocks and collecting virtual coins. In addition, Super Mario Land will offer various attractions, food offerings, and shopping, including:
Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge: Dive into an adventure where guests team up with Mario to defeat Bowser and claim the Golden Cup. This ride combines augmented reality with projection mapping and set designs to recreate the Mario Kart games. Visitors will navigate the corridors of Bowser’s castle, uncovering his scheming plots before racing in karts. Along the track, they will engage in collecting coins, hurling shells at opponents, and avoiding hazards, all while racing alongside their favorite characters.
Yoshi’s Adventure: This gentle ride is designed for guests of all ages, offering overhead views of Super Mario Land. Riders will join Yoshis on a quest through the Mushroom Kingdom to find magical eggs, encountering familiar characters throughout their journey.
Toadstool Cafe: Enjoy various meals inspired by the world of Super Mario and its characters, such as Mario and Luigi-themed burgers, Super Mushroom Soup, Piranha Plant Caprese, and Fire Flower Spaghetti and Meatballs. Diners can watch Toads prepare dishes through virtual displays while enjoying their meal.
Yoshi’s Snack Island and Turbo Boost Treats: These walk-up locations offer quick snacks and beverages.
1-UP Factory and Mario Motors: Shop for souvenirs, clothing, toys, and more that celebrate the Super Mario universe.
Meet and Greets: Interact with Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad, who will be making appearances around Super Mario Land.
Donkey Kong Country
Venturing further into Super Nintendo World, visitors will find themselves in the jungles of Donkey Kong Country. This section of Super Nintendo World will capture the essence of the games with tropical scenery, featuring tall trees and waterfalls, as well as The Golden Temple. In Donkey Kong Country, guests can experience the following:
Mine-Cart Madness: Guests will board a mine cart and speed through the jungle to help Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong defend the treasured golden banana. This family coaster introduces an innovative ride system paired with a distinctive design. Mine-Cart Madness plunges riders into a heart-pounding adventure, capturing the stunts familiar to Donkey Kong’s video game escapades. Expect dynamic features like being launched from a barrel and daring leaps over gaps in the track.
A variety of tropical food offerings and shopping options embedded within the jungle ambiance—all drawing inspiration from the Donkey Kong Country video game series and its beloved characters. Further information will be released soon.
Power-Up Band
Like the Super Nintendo World-themed areas in Universal’s other theme parks, Epic Universe’s version will also include Power-Up Bands. These wrist-worn devices enable guests to enhance their experience across Super Nintendo World. By purchasing a Power-Up Band, visitors can gather digital coins through punching ? Blocks and engaging in various interactive games, accumulate digital stamps on attractions, secure digital keys to challenge Bowser Jr. in a showdown, and uncover additional hidden surprises. Guests can check their standings against others on the Leaderboard screens in Super Nintendo World.
