Universal Orlando Resort has revealed a first look at the upcoming attraction, “Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry,” set to be a centerpiece of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic within Universal Epic Universe. This all-new ride will blend “massive incredibly detailed environments, powerful storytelling, unprecedented ride technology, and so much more to take guests on an action-packed adventure,” Universal Orlando stated in a press release.
Journey to the Ministry
Guests will set off on a journey within Epic Universe’s Wizarding World, starting in the enchanting streets of wizarding Paris, influenced by the Fantastic Beasts films. To ride Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, guests will transport to the British Ministry of Magic using the Métro-Floo, a unique transportation method inspired by the iconic Floo Network from the Harry Potter films, enabling guests to step through fireplace-like structures that fans will recognize from the series.
The Queue
Upon arriving at the Ministry of Magic, guests will immediately find themselves in a recreation of the Ministry’s grand atrium. The atrium, part of the attraction’s queue, will feature elements such as the restored Fountain of Magical Brethren statue, the enchanted weather ceiling, an endless array of Ministry offices, and more. Guests will soon discover their visit to the Ministry of Magic coincides with the day Dolores Umbridge is set to face trial for her crimes against the wizarding world.
As guests progress through the queue, they’ll pass by the Ministry Reception, which will be empty as staff prepare for the trial’s proceedings.
Guests will also see Dolores Umbridge’s former office, where they’ll meet Higgledy, Umbridge’s former house-elf, who is cleaning out Umbridge’s office in anticipation of the trial.
Throughout the queue, guests can see a variety of details from the films, including the latest edition of the Daily Prophet, highlighting Umbridge’s trial; interdepartmental memos; and the belongings of some of their favorite characters from the films.
The Ride
The ride vehicle will feature a vibrant design accented in red and gold. This magical, omnidirectional lift can hold up to 14 guests. According to Universal, “these lifts are unlike any ride vehicle ever created,” capable of propelling guests up, down, forward, backward, sideways, and in every direction possible—replicating the immersive experience of the films. The ride vehicle will allow guests to journey further into the depths of the British Ministry of Magic.
As the ride unfolds, guests will chase after Dolores Umbridge, who is desperately trying to evade justice. Along the way, riders will confront various hazards, including attacks from the Death Eaters, rampaging creatures, and more.
The attraction will also take guests through several notable areas within the British Ministry of Magic, such as the Magical Archives, a vast library filled with towering cabinets that house centuries of magical documents and history; the Department of Magical Creatures, where creatures have escaped and are in disarray; and the Time Room, which will feature various Time-Turners and unique timekeeping devices.
