Universal Orlando is set to demolish the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster, a decision that has been speculated for quite some time. Recent filings with the South Florida Water Management District have validated Universal’s intentions to “remove existing attraction and replace with proposed attraction.”

As illustrated in the photo above, the documents submitted to the South Florida Water Management District highlight the project location as Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, but it also extends the boundary to include additional space.

The photo below provides a glimpse of Universal’s plans for the site, which include the construction of three new buildings dedicated to the upcoming attraction. Among these proposed buildings are one small structure (not pictured in the image) and two larger buildings (highlighted in yellow). The larger structures are to be built in the New York section of the park. One of these larger buildings is to be situated in the backstage parking area, while the other may extend into the vicinity of the extended queue for Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon. The documents do not indicate the purpose of the proposed buildings.

A recent Notice of Commencement was filed for upcoming work at Universal Studios Florida by roller coaster manufacturer Intamin; however, it remains unclear if this notice pertains directly to this project or is related to the maintenance of an existing attraction. Regarding Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, there are rumors that the new ride could be themed after Fast & Furious or Ghostbusters.

While Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit continues to be popular, guests have often voiced their concerns regarding the excessive number of brake runs and the discomfort the ride causes. Furthermore, in 2023, Universal reduced a large collection of on board song options, going from 30 songs to 5.

As of now, Universal Orlando has not provided any official statements regarding the fate of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit or the new attraction in the works.
