Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood have just announced their latest addition to the Halloween Horror Nights line-up: The Last of Us.
The Last of Us is a popular video game series developed by Naughty Dog and initially released in 2013. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where survivors must fight off infected humans and other dangers. The franchise’s popularity as a game paved its way onto TV as a show on HBO.
The haunted house at Halloween Horror Nights for both coasts will be based on the video game series, bringing the world of The Last of Us to life by propelling guests “into a world of carnage and mayhem as they follow in the footsteps of the game’s protagonists, Joel and Ellie, who endure a brutal journey in a world overtaken by a fungal virus that turns humans into various forms of a new threat known as the Infected,” according to Universal’s press release.
Guests will walk through iconic locations from the game, including The Hotel Grand as well as dark and dank tunnels, encountering the Infected—Runners, Stalkers, and Clickers—along with The Hunters, a band of hostile humans. The goal: navigate the Pittsburgh Quarantine Zone in an attempt to escape and survive.
Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights begins Friday, September 1. Various tickets and vacation packages are now available.
Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights starts Thursday, September 7. Tickets are now available.
