Sloth World, an animal attraction under development on International Drive in Orlando, has removed much of its online presence, as reported by Attractions Magazine, following public backlash tied to a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) report documenting the deaths of more than 30 sloths before the attraction ever opened.
As of April 23, 2026, the attraction’s official website remains live, but it has undergone substantial alterations. The homepage now displays a basic placeholder page associated with an unconfigured WordPress installation, with all content removed. However, other pages within the site remain intact and continue to display original material. These pages are no longer accessible through normal navigation on the homepage but can still be reached directly through existing URLs, many of which remain indexed by search engines.

In addition to the website changes, Sloth World’s social media presence has been removed, with both its Instagram and Facebook accounts no longer accessible.
According to findings outlined in the FWC report, the deaths occurred across two separate animal shipments in late 2024 and early 2025. The first group, consisting of 21 sloths imported from Guyana in December 2024, all died at a warehouse near Sloth World due to cold exposure.
A second shipment from Peru arrived in February 2025. In that case, two animals were found dead upon arrival, while the remaining eight were reported to be in severely weakened condition. None of the animals from that shipment survived.
The FWC did not issue fines or formal penalties related to the deaths. However, the agency did issue a verbal warning in a separate matter after identifying concerns with enclosure conditions, including instances where sloth enclosures did not meet minimum size requirements. The report also noted a lack of documentation indicating when the animals had been placed into those enclosures.
Sloth World has not yet opened to the public and has not announced a specific opening date.
