Universal’s Volcano Bay water theme park is a destination like no other. It combines incredible attractions and breathtaking scenery to create a relaxing, tropical atmosphere. Today, Universal Orlando revealed all-new information about the park’s highlight attraction and additional details about the experiences guests can enjoy.
Krakatau Aqua Coaster
Krakatau Aqua Coaster will serve as Volcano Bay’s marquee attraction. Guests will board canoes that will propel downwards and upwards through Krakatau, the park’s iconic volcano. During the experience, guests will explore the volcano’s interior peaks and valleys, twist and turn along dark passageways, be launched through sparkling waterfalls, and more. This attraction will use linear induction motor technology to launch the canoes uphill (this technology is also used for Universal’s Revenge of the Mummy coaster).
TapuTapu Wearable
As a way to reduce long lines, guests will be given complimentary bracelets called TapuTapu that will allow them to virtually hold their place in the ride lines while playing in other areas of the park; they will be alerted when it’s time to head to the attraction. Additionally, the bracelet can be used to trigger special effects throughout Volcano Bay. Guests can control streams of water spurting from whales in Tot Tiki Reef, shoot water cannons at guests on Kopiko Wai Winding River, and illuminate images in the volcano’s hidden caves.
Tickets for Universal’s Volcano Bay water theme park, scheduled to open in early summer 2017, will go on sale beginning November 15th.
