The Walt Disney Company will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2023, and Disneyland Resort will partake in the commemoration with the Disney100 celebration, which will include special limited-time offerings and a new nighttime spectacular: “Wondrous Journeys.”

The new nighttime show will celebrate 100 years of the Walt Disney Animation Studios with nods to the studio’s films released over the past century. The “Wondrous Journeys” show will include music, characters, and special moments from stories including Encanto, Hercules, The Princess and the Frog, Peter Pan, Frozen, Treasure Planet, Big Hero 6, Moana, and more. Additionally, an original new song called “It’s Wondrous” will be used for the nighttime spectacular.

“Wonderous Journeys” is designed to have you “embark on an adventure filled with artistry, music, storytelling, and heart,” according to Disney. That adventure will be “full of possibilities, excitement, heartache, and determination that help us realize we all face trials and triumphs along the way to making our dreams come true.”

You will be surrounded by a blank canvas, pencil sketches, and splashes of color, as animators seemingly bring to life beloved characters, including Mickey Mouse, Bambi, Ariel, and more. Moreover, Baymax will soar above Sleeping Beauty Castle in “a thrilling moment of heroism[,] . . . inspiring us all to fight for our dreams.”

“Wonderous Journeys” will transform Sleeping Beauty Castle, Main Street, U.S.A., the facade of “it’s a small world,” and the Rivers of America into an artist’s canvas that brings stories to life all around you.

Projection effects, lighting effects, fireworks, and more will be utilized to bring the new nighttime spectacular to life.

“Wonderous Journeys” will debut at Disneyland Park as part of the resort’s Disney100 Celebration, beginning January 27, 2023.
