A Massachusetts woman was arrested following an incident at Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort last month, after deputies say she became aggressive during a dispute with restaurant staff.
According to an arrest affidavit from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on May 19, 2026, at Steakhouse 71. Deputies were called to the restaurant after reports of a disturbance involving a guest and a Cast Member.
Investigators identified the woman as 57-year-old Leslie Helen Varley. Officials said she approached staff over what was described as an issue related to the size of her party. A witness also stated the encounter intensified after a Cast Member made a remark involving the woman’s disabled daughter and physical contact with a staff member.
The affidavit says Varley threw three cups of water at the Cast Member, all of which struck his body. It further states she then approached him directly, grabbed his name tag from his uniform, and left the restaurant with it. The report also notes that during the confrontation, Varley broke four glasses that were valued at approximately $20 in total.
Varley was later taken into custody and is facing charges including battery, robbery by sudden snatching, and criminal mischief.
