Disney shared a closer look at the massive expansion coming to Frontierland at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, including two new attractions inspired by Pixar’s Cars and the wilderness setting known as Piston Peak National Park.
The new area will introduce a rugged landscape filled with mountains, waterfalls, rivers, and geysers while bringing the world of Cars into the American frontier.
Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along
Disney has officially announced that the second attraction planned for Piston Peak is Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along.
Based on the “Diva of Demolition” from Cars 3, the attraction will center around Miss Fritter as she hosts a chaotic demolition derby. The character will appear as a massive, school-bus-sized animatronic.
Cars Ridge Run Rally
The previously announced rally-race attraction now has an official name, along with new details about what guests can expect from the experience.
Cars Ridge Run Rally will send guests on an off-road race as they compete for the “fastest lap in the west.”
The race will wind through a rugged wilderness inspired by America’s national parks, taking guests to the summit of Piston Peak, where a snow-covered, icy landscape awaits.
From the summit, racers will plunge down a camelback-style descent before navigating a field of geysers. The course then loops around the Old Tankfull geyser before racers make a final dash to the finish line, where Lightning McQueen and Mater are providing live coverage of the action.
A New Type of Ride Vehicle
Disney says Cars Ridge Run Rally will use a newly designed ride vehicle intended to feel like an actual off-road vehicle.
The vehicles will feature tires and suspension systems designed to react to the terrain, allowing riders to feel the bumps, drops, and rocky surfaces throughout the course.
Inside Piston Peak National Park
Beyond the attractions, Piston Peak will introduce an entirely new environment to Magic Kingdom.
The fictional national park draws inspiration from the Rocky Mountains and the landscapes associated with America’s national parks. Guests will encounter towering trees, snowcapped mountains, waterfalls, roaring rivers, and geysers throughout the area.
Guests will also be able to see and explore the visitor lodge, Ranger HQ, trails, and more, all set within the Cars universe.
