Last year alone, Universal’s Islands of Adventure welcomed 8.1 million guests. With attendance rates like that you’d probably assume every section of the park is consumed with guests. For the most part, that is true, however, there are some sections throughout the park that are surprisingly quiet. These areas are ideal for you to relax, enjoy a meal, and make some great #UniversalMoments. While these locations are certainly not “hidden,” they seem to be because most guests do not explore these areas of the park.

Here are the top “hidden” areas throughout Universal’s Islands of Adventure:

Port of Entry waterfront

Venture to the far end of the Port of Entry at Universal’s Islands of Adventure and you’ll discover a peaceful sector known as the Port of Entry waterfront. This area is free from the massive crowds and has amazing views of the surrounding “islands.” The Port of Entry waterfront is rather quiet and makes a great place for photographs. At this location, you’ll spot the Jurassic Park Discovery Center, Hogwarts Castle and Hogsmeade Village, Mythos Restaurant, and several other structures found throughout the park’s “islands.”

Toon Lagoon waterfront

Explore Toon Lagoon… all of it and then make your way behind the Me Ship, The Olive boat by following the walkway closest to Islands of Adventure’s lagoon. Here, you’ll discover yet another quiet area with more views of the surrounding islands. Here’s a bonus: you’ll also be able to see riders on Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges get soaked.

Camp Jurassic

Cooped up in Jurassic Park is Camp Jurassic, a prehistoric playground where you can explore amber mines, climb dinosaur nets, slide down to safety, and walk along unusual bridges. Camp Jurassic is by far the best-themed playground yet and no, you don’t have to be a kid to have fun in a playground.

Jurassic Park Discovery Center

The Jurassic Park Discovery Center is a great place to explore and learn about dinosaurs and the past world. This interactive area allows you to enjoy a hands-on interactive area modeled after the original Visitor’s Center in the Jurassic Park films. This incredible center also houses The Burger Digs, a restaurant serving burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken fingers, and shakes. Despite its grand size, the Jurassic Park Discovery Center and The Burger Digs are fairly quiet (depending upon when you visit). You can find this massive discovery center in the Jurassic Park area of Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

Jurassic Park waterfront

Head through the massive doors at the bottom of the Jurassic Park Discovery Center and you’ll explore yet another waterfront. Yes, Islands of Adventure does indeed have a lot of waterfronts and yes, many of the waterfronts at Islands of Adventure are quiet. This is a great location for making adventures, relaxing, and photographing your moments in a prehistoric “island.”

The Lost Continent waterfront

The Lost Continent’s waterfront is by far the least visited. Journey behind Mythos Restaurant and you’ll witness a one-of-a-kind view. Intake the park’s beauty as practically every “island” is visible from this waterfront. Look at the structure just behind you and you’ll witness a massive statue and structure with awe-inspiring carvings. The Lost Continent’s waterfront is nothing short of amazing! This waterfront is definitely a must see and the perfect location for photographs, resting, and perhaps a quick video shot of your adventures.
