Walt Disney World has announced new details about the Animation Academy experience debuting this summer at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Located inside the upcoming The Magic of Disney Animation attraction, the new offering will feature Olaf from Disney’s Frozen as the host of an interactive character drawing class.
The experience will feature a new Audio-Animatronics figure of Olaf positioned inside a setting inspired by Once Upon A Studio. Olaf is seated at an animator’s desk, welcoming guests to discover the art of drawing. Children will have access to sleigh-themed tables, while additional workstations are designed to resemble professional animator desks.
Josh Gad, who voices Olaf, recorded original dialogue created specifically for the experience.
“I’m so thrilled that a whole new generation of kids can dream of becoming animators one day and can actually begin their journey right there on the studio lot,” Gad said about the experience.
During each session, Olaf introduces Disney Animation artists whose pre-recorded instruction guides guests step by step through drawing popular Disney Animation characters.
Each class will spotlight a different character, giving guests a varied experience as they sketch featured characters alongside legendary artists:
- Mickey Mouse, instructed by Dan Abraham (Once Upon a Studio, Baymax!)
- Minnie Mouse, instructed by Hyun Min Lee (Frozen 2, The Princess and the Frog)
- Donald Duck, instructed by Austin Traylor (Once Upon a Studio, Moana 2)
- Genie, instructed by Eric Goldberg (Aladdin, Hercules)
- Moana, instructed by Samantha Vilfort (Encanto, Zootopia 2)
- Stitch, instructed by Fawn Veerasunthorn (Wish, Raya and the Last Dragon)
- Olaf, instructed by Trent Correy (Once Upon a Studio, Frozen 3)
- Ursula, instructed by Michael Woodside (Big Hero 6, Encanto)
- Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, instructed by Byron Howard (Zootopia, Zootopia 2)
