Universal Orlando has announced the launch of an all-new, next-generation collection of interactive wands set to introduce new ways for guests to engage with the magic of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Starting March 1, guests can purchase Second Generation Interactive Wands, which will feature light and haptic effects for the very first time.
The enhancements to the interactive wands come alongside a personalized experience accessible through the Universal Orlando Resort app, allowing guests to elevate their spellcasting adventures. In addition, Universal Orlando is introducing new locations to cast spells within Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure, Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida, and Place Cachée in the Ministry of Magic area at Epic Universe (opening on May 22, 2025).

New Second Generation Interactive Wands
The new Second Generation Interactive Wands will be available in four designs, packaged in an exclusive box marked with a wand burst icon, containing a spell map. This map outlines designated locations throughout the parks where guests can practice their magic. Additionally, it provides information on how guests can take their wizarding legacy to a new level with Universal Play, available in the Universal Orlando app. When guests cast their spells with the new wands, they will not only see the results of their spellcasting but will also feel them; each spell will produce unique illumination effects and haptic vibration effects.

Universal Play in the Wizarding World
With the interactive wands, guests can experience wand magic across The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in a new way by connecting their wand to Universal Play within the Universal Orlando app for a more tailored engagement, including:
- Personalization: Guests can shape their wizarding journey by creating a customized Wizard Profile, allowing them to choose their Wizard Name, Hogwarts House, Avatar, and Patronus. As they cast spells across the Wizarding World, these chosen attributes will enhance the effects of their spellcasting, delivering a unique experience for every guest.
- Exclusive Adventures: The app will offer a variety of adventures with varying levels of complexity, tailored to help guests enhance their Wizarding Level and mastery of magic.
- House Points: Guests can accumulate points for their chosen Hogwarts House with each spell cast. The leaderboard allows guests to follow other witches and wizards and track their standing. During each visit, guests can monitor their House Points and Wizarding Level progress, along with their Achievements and Spellwork through Universal Play. As their Wizarding Level increases, more spells and adventures will become available. Additionally, each day, the house that earns the most House Points will be awarded the House Cup.

New and Enhanced Wand Magic Locations
Across The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure are five new interactive wand locations, bringing the total number of wand magic locations to 30. New experiences include:
- The Duelling Club Tent – In Hogsmeade, guests can bring an abandoned dueling dummy to life with a spell and challenge their dueling skills.
- The Owl Post – In Hogsmeade, mischievous pixies dart across the window and hide behind packages as guests attempt to cast a spell to freeze them in place.
- Knockturn Alley Staircase – In Diagon Alley, guests must conjure their patronus to defend themselves when a dementor appears in the dimly lit staircase.
- Ariadne’s Spinners – In Diagon Alley, guests are tasked with a casting spell to repel spiders of all sizes before they take over the newspaper-covered glass windows.
- Knockturn Alley Sky – In Diagon Alley, guests can cast their magic into the night sky to control a storm or perform a counter-spell to calm the sky.
Moreover, enhancements have been made to all existing wand magic locations in both Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, introducing new dynamic casting effects, magical spellbooks providing guidance at select locations, and more.
At The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic in Epic Universe, guests will find fourteen wand magic locations where they can embark on adventures to uncover the Philosopher’s Stone, engage with magical creatures like a Niffler or Demiguise, and more.
Guests can purchase the new collection of Second Generation Interactive Wands at Ollivanders Wand Shop in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, Cosme Acajor Baguettes Magique in Place Cachée, and at various locations throughout Universal Orlando.
