Universal Orlando announced an all-new attraction set to open in the summer of 2023: Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast.
Guests will be transported into the Minions film’s Orlando-based Villain-Con, where they’ll compete to join the ranks of the Vicious 6, a group of supervillains.
According to Universal Orlando’s news release, the attraction will be an interactive, blaster game that will utilize screen technology, state-of-the-art gaming interactivity, and physical sets. Unlike MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack, Universal Orlando’s other interactive attraction, Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast will not place guests in a vehicle. Rather, guests will step onto a motion-based pathway which will guide them through the attraction as they pass target points.
In addition to a new attraction, an all-new Minions-themed dining location will also open at the resort.
Universal Orlando’s Shrek 4-D was closed in January 2022 to make way for the Minions attraction, and Universal Studios’ Classic Monsters Cafe closed in May 2022 for the Minions restaurant.
