HBO Max is already looking ahead to another chapter of the Big Bang Theory universe, renewing Stuart Fails to Save the Universe for a second season just four episodes into its debut run.
The series puts Kevin Sussman in the spotlight as Stuart Bloom, the comic book store owner who finds himself dealing with a problem far beyond anything he could have anticipated. After damaging a device created by Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter, Stuart triggers a catastrophic breakdown in reality and is forced to find a way to restore reality, but things don’t go well.
Stuart isn’t dealing with the multiverse crisis alone. Lauren Lapkus returns as Denise, Stuart’s girlfriend, while Brian Posehn plays geologist Bert Kibbler and John Ross Bowie reprises his role as the notoriously irritating Barry Kripke. The show also introduces alternate versions of the main characters from The Big Bang Theory.
Behind the new series are Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn and Bill Prady. Lorre and Prady co-created the hit show The Big Bang Theory.
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Lorre, Penn and Prady serve as executive producers, with Kyle Newacheck also executive producing and directing multiple episodes.
The comedy premiered on July 23, 2026, and has six episodes left in its first season, with new episodes streaming Thursdays on HBO Max.
