All-new Marvel themed areas have been announced for Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland so that guests can “become part of a bigger universe filled with epic heroes and adventures.” These new areas are designed to “champion the next generation of Super Heroes,” according to the Disney Parks Blog.
Disneyland Resort’s Super Hero-themed land will open at the Disney California Adventure park. This area will be joined by Spider-Man and the Avengers in addition to Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT, which opened in 2017 after the closure of the Tower of Terror ride. Disney’s report states that this Marvel area will “begin recruiting guests in 2020, with even more new experiences to follow.” The new land will be anchored by the Guardians of the Galaxy attraction, “in the adjacent space that is currently occupied by ‘a bug’s land.'” The rest of the “It’s Tough to Be a Bug” land will close in late summer to make way for this development.
For Disneyland Paris, the Walt Disney Studios Park will undergo a major change with the addition of a Marvel-themed area that will include new experiences for guests to enjoy. As a part of this development, “a reimagined attraction where riders will team up with Iron Man and their favorite Avengers on a hyper-kinetic adventure” will open in 2020.
Disney’s announcement also reveals plans for a new themed area in Hong Kong Disneyland that will consist of an attraction where guests team up with The Wasp and Ant-Man; this is part of the destination’s multi-year expansion plans. This new ride will join the Iron Man Experience, which opened last year.
