Disney has shared a first look at the all-new animatronic of Walt Disney, a centerpiece of the new “Walt Disney – A Magical Life,” debuting at the Main Street Opera House theater at Disneyland Park on July 17, 2025. This all-new show and exhibit experience honors Walt Disney and his dream of Disneyland.
New Exhibits
Guests entering the Main Street Opera House will first encounter new gallery experiences in the lobby, featuring hundreds of images and artifacts spanning from Walt Disney’s early career to now.
The front section of the lobby shows how Walt Disney conjured up the idea of Disneyland while spending time with his daughters.
Relics and memorabilia from the early stages of Disneyland, including pencil drawings and concept artwork of preliminary plans, were curated for the exhibit. Guests can catch a look at some site plans that have never been shared publicly.
Additional artifacts are on display in the lobby, such as Mickey ears through the years, Disney watches, pieces from The Walt Disney Family Museum, original and replica figures of Walt Disney Imagineering’s earliest development of Audio-Animatronics, and more.
There’s a special area dedicated to Walt Disney’s private apartment in Disneyland, which was built above the Town Square Fire Station. This display has original furniture and décor from the apartment.
New Theater Show
From the lobby, guests will head into the theater for “Walt Disney – A Magical Life”, which begins with a film adaptation of “One Man’s Dream,” narrated by Walt Disney. The film follows his life from early endeavors through his dreams for the future.
The show concludes with the first Disney Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney ever created. The animatronic will be showcased in a re-creation of his office at the Studio, where he’ll share stories and thoughts on his career and philosophy. To bring the animatronic’s voice to life, Walt Disney’s own words were seamlessly blended for the performance.
