In a landmark vote, Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, has overcome a significant hurdle in its expansion journey. On Monday night, the Anaheim Planning Commission cast a 5-1 vote in favor of the iconic theme park’s growth efforts. This decision comes after nearly three years of reviews and analysis.
The eagerly anticipated project is now slated to be reviewed by the City Council, with a vote scheduled for April 16. Although the expansion does not lay out detailed plans for new attractions, Disney officials have not refrained from painting a broad-stroke vision for the resort. The possibilities include immersive experiences inspired by beloved Disney properties like Frozen, Zootopia, Tron, and Peter Pan.
Disneyland’s expansion project pledges a minimum investment of $1.9 billion over the next decade, earmarked for enhancing the theme parks, lodging, entertainment, shopping, and dining facilities.
