Disney World Cast Member Injured by 400‑lb Prop Boulder During Indiana Jones Show Speaks Out

The Walt Disney World Cast Member injured during a December 30, 2025, performance of the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is speaking out about the extent of his injuries and the incident itself.

In a January 13, 2026, interview with WFTV Channel 9, Robert Herrick, a longtime Cast Member who has worked on the show as both an actor and stunt performer for more than 30 years, described the moment a boulder prop—described by Disney as a 400-pound rubber prop—went off course and began bouncing toward the audience. Herrick, having decades of experience with the show, said he was able to react by the time the boulder barely veered off course, stepping in to prevent the prop from reaching guests. He was ultimately bounced backward, landing on his back.

Herrick is now recovering in a neck brace, which he will need to wear for at least the next eight weeks, after fracturing two vertebrae in his neck. Despite receiving praise and being called a hero for his quick action, Herrick told WFTV that he struggles with that label.

“I have a difficult time with that moniker. I do. I think thirty-plus years of being on that stage that I love so much—I love that show with all my heart—my Epic family, I love—put me in that position. A hero? There was no thought . . . about that at all. My only thought was that thing couldn’t reach the audience.”

Following the accident, Disney modified the show to remove the boulder scene. The company also confirmed that its safety team is reviewing the incident.

“Safety is at the heart of what we do, and that element of the show will be modified as our safety team completes a review of what happened,” a Disney spokesperson said.

Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! is the longest-running attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, having opened on August 25, 1989. The live stunt show follows Indiana Jones and Marion Ravenwood as they dodge traps, battle villains, leap from tall structures, and make daring escapes, while also giving guests a behind-the-scenes look at how movie stunts are safely created.
