Islands of Adventure is a theme park like no other! The park is divided into seven islands: Port of Entry, Marvel Super Hero Island, Toon Lagoon, Jurassic Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade, The Lost Continent, and Seuss Landing. Each “island” immerses you into a truly magical and awe-inspiring world that puts you at the center of attention. There is much to discover once you go beyond the Port of Entry, including venturing far beyond the gates of Jurassic Park and entering the magical world of Harry Potter, but where can one relax for a brief moment before continuing their journey? Throughout Islands of Adventure are—believe it or not—serene areas that are somewhat “unseen” yet seen by the public.

Here are some of Islands of Adventure’s top relaxation spots:

Behind Me Ship, The Olive

Just behind Me Ship, The Olive (located in Toon Lagoon), you’ll find a rather quite yet lively — and vibrant — walking path along the park’s central lagoon. The walking path provides an atmosphere with sufficient shading, alluring views of the surrounding islands, and a peaceful setting. Though the area is somewhat compact, it is a prime spot to escape the crowds and perhaps the heat in the hot summer for a brief period of time. This location may not be entirely silent but this works as a benefit because you can hear and see the nearby rafts from Popeye and Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges as well as Me Ship, The Olive and the roaring Incredible Hulk Coaster (when it reopens this summer with a slightly toned down “roar” effect); this allows you to stay in the action of the park but stay in a tranquil environment.

Jurassic Park waterfront

The easiest way to access the Jurassic Park waterfront is by entering the Jurassic Park Discovery Center at the main entrance and heading through the massive doors on the bottom floor. The waterfront provides top-end views of the surrounding islands and a breathtaking look at the front façade of the Jurassic Park Discovery Center, which is modeled very closely to the “Welcome Center” in the original Jurassic Park film. This location is great to escape most of the park crowds and especially the heat as the area is surrounded with an abundant amount of trees and overhead shading from the building of the Discovery Center. This is not only an extraordinary spot to rest at but also to explore; there are dinosaurs engraved in the walls of the building and hidden details such as the imprints of fossils and Jurassic era flora etched into the walkways.

Three Broomsticks deck

Enjoy a delicious meal at the Three Broomsticks but don’t eat inside… eat outside on the outdoor deck. This deck offers breathtaking views of Hogwarts Castle and the other islands of the park. The deck also provides a peaceful location to enjoy nature’s beauty and savor a tasty meal while under the shade. This is especially a top notch resting area if you’re eating a meal while the sun is setting—you may be able to see a beautiful sunset from a one-of-a-kind perspective in a highly themed setting.

Behind Mythos Restaurant

Mythos Restaurant is located in The Lost Continent. The restaurant has been rated as the top theme park restaurant several times throughout its course, and there’s a reason behind that. The restaurant serves delicious food in an incredibly themed atmosphere and there are towering rock formations, cascading waterfalls, and ancient gods carved into the side of the restaurant. Plus, the restaurant serves mouth-watering pork, beef, salmon, risotto of the day, Pad Thai, burgers, sandwiches, and desserts. This award-winning restaurant is nestled alongside the waterfront of The Lost Continent so there are no stores, restaurants, shows, rides or attractions behind it. Because of this, the area behind Mythos Restaurant usually contains very few to no people. The Lost Continent waterfront is a top relaxation location because of it’s awe-inspiring environment such as the massive statue and impressive architecture, stunning waterfront views, and the soothing sound of water and nearby rides.
